Two brother's last name Kimberson purchased this tiny 10 stool bar in Gateway the year was 1948.
Sixty years later and Kim's is still in the alley of the Gateway Plaza. Much has changed and all for the good.

Grandpa McAdam purchased the bar from the brother's Kimberson.  He passed away and left Kim's to his beloved daughters  Ellen Eckerle and Jane Donaldson. Back then women did not own or run establishments such as bars!    Ellen and Jane gave the reins over to their husbands.    Shortly after Jane's husband passed away.
George Eckerle ran the bar and the package store with a little help from his son's Tom, John. George and Jimmy, they could give a hand when not talking college courses.

In 1980 George and Ellen Eckerle  along with sister Jane Donalson made a decision to move to North Carolina and sell Kim's.   Tom Eckerle the oldest of the 5 children purchased Kim's from his Mother and Aunt.  Tom being an accountant gave up his career to operate Kim's.

In 1980  Tom became the owner of Kim's Alley Bar.  Time moved on and the neighborhood evolved as did Kim's.    No more 10 stools and a package store but 3,600 sf of the
BEST NEIGHBORHOOD BAR IN FT.LAUDERDALE..

Tom Eckerle owned Kim's for 27 years and he passed away February 7, 2007 leaving the bar to his companion of 15 years Joyce Bunting.

Kim's is " EVERY ONES BAR EVERYDAY.'
Come by and see for yourself.
